**Functional foods and beverages** are foodstuffs that fulfil functions beyond their nutrients, thus positively contributing to health, physical well-being and at the same time reducing the risk of disease. However, these foods and beverages do not have the form of capsules, pills, or others – they are part of a normal diet.
